{"id":169,"date":"2015-08-17T22:32:17","date_gmt":"2015-08-18T04:32:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/priddysoftware.com\/home\/?page_id=169"},"modified":"2016-01-29T23:43:32","modified_gmt":"2016-01-30T05:43:32","slug":"extracting-mytime-data-from-itunes-backup","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/priddysoftware.com\/home\/support\/extracting-mytime-data-from-itunes-backup","title":{"rendered":"Extracting MyTime data from iTunes Backup"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"section block\">\n<h1>Extract your mytime data from your iTunes backups<\/h1>\n<p>Here is some info about backups from apple&#8217;s website\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/support.apple.com\/kb\/HT1766\" rel=\"nofollow\">http:\/\/support.apple.com\/kb\/HT1766<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here are some rules:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>never ever setup your phone as a new phone, ALWAYS restore from a backup (even if the apple store told you to).<\/li>\n<li>always keep up to date with your email backups.<\/li>\n<li>sync your iPhone\/iPad\/iPod Touch with iTunes regularly to keep a backup of your data.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"On_OSX\"><\/a>On OSX<\/h2>\n<p>These instructions only work if you have not encrypted your backup data<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>download\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/supercrazyawesome.com\/downloads\/iPhone%20Backup%20Extractor.app.zip\" rel=\"nofollow\">http:\/\/supercrazyawesome.com\/downloads\/iPhone%20Backup%20Extractor.app.zip<\/a><\/li>\n<li>extract and run the application<\/li>\n<li>Select the &#8220;Read Backups&#8221; button<\/li>\n<li>Pick your device<\/li>\n<li>Then select com.yourcompany.MyTime<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MyTime\">?<\/a>\u2122<\/li>\n<li>press &#8220;Extract&#8221; and save this to your desktop.<\/li>\n<li>your backup file should be in ~\/Desktop\/com.yourcompany.MyTime<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MyTime\">?<\/a>\u2122\/Documents\/MyTime<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MyTime\">?<\/a>\u2122.sqlite (if you dont have this file and are running a very old version of mytime you might see a &#8220;records.plist&#8221; file)<\/li>\n<li>run the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mytime.googlecode.com\/files\/MyTime%E2%84%A2%20Backup-1.2.zip\" rel=\"nofollow\">MyTime\u2122 Backup<\/a>\u00a0application and make sure that your iPhone is on the same wireless network as your Mac. (If you cant get this to work, email me your records.plist file)<\/li>\n<li>on the iPhone, start MyTime<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MyTime\">?<\/a>\u2122 and go to More-&gt;Settings-&gt;Backup using &#8216;MyTime<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MyTime\">?<\/a>\u2122 Backup&#8217;<\/li>\n<li>on the Mac in the MyTime<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MyTime\">?<\/a>\u2122 Backup program, select &#8220;Restore Backup&#8221; from the middle list<\/li>\n<li>then select the &#8220;records.plist&#8221; file in the third column (if you are using MyTime<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MyTime\">?<\/a>\u2122 &gt; 3.1.0 you are interested in getting the &#8220;MyTime<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MyTime\">?<\/a>\u2122.sqlite&#8221; file)<\/li>\n<li>press &#8220;Save File&#8221; and save the file to your desktop<\/li>\n<li>on the iPhone, start MyTime<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MyTime\">?<\/a>\u2122 and go to More-&gt;Settings-&gt;Start MyTime<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MyTime\">?<\/a>\u2122 Webserver<\/li>\n<li>on your PC open a web browser following the onscreen instructions of MyTime<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MyTime\">?<\/a>\u2122<\/li>\n<li>you should be viewing a webpage entitled &#8220;MyTime<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MyTime\">?<\/a>\u2122 Webserver&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>in the &#8220;Backup\/Restore&#8221; section on the &#8220;Restore Backup File&#8221; line, press the &#8220;Browse&#8221; button and open that &#8220;records.plist&#8221; file that you saved on your desktop earlier.<\/li>\n<li>now press the &#8220;Restore Backup&#8221; button<\/li>\n<li>wait till you see the webpage refresh (should take 0-8 seconds)<\/li>\n<li>hit the home button on the iPhone to quit MyTime<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MyTime\">?<\/a>\u2122 and restart MyTime<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MyTime\">?<\/a>\u2122 to see your data<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"On_Windows_or_OSX_(alternative_method)\"><\/a>On Windows or OSX (alternative method)<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>You will need to navigate to one of the following directories:\n<ul>\n<li>On a Mac: ~\/Library\/Application Support\/MobileSync<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MobileSync\">?<\/a>\/Backup\/<\/li>\n<li>On Windows XP: open &#8220;My Computer&#8221; and go to the &#8220;Tools&#8221; menu -&gt; Folder Options -&gt; View -&gt; select &#8220;Show hidden files and folders&#8221; and hit OK.\n<ul>\n<li>From My Computer go to: c:\\Documents and Settings\\(username)\\Application Data\\Apple Computer\\MobileSync<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MobileSync\">?<\/a>\\Backup\\<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>On Windows Vista: go to Control Panel &gt; Appearance and Personalization &gt; Folder Options &gt; general &gt; and make sure that &#8220;Show hidden files&#8221; is checked\n<ul>\n<li>from the Start-&gt;Computer go to C:\\Users\\(username)\\AppData<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/AppData\">?<\/a>\\Roaming\\Apple Computer\\MobileSync<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MobileSync\">?<\/a>\\Backup\\<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>On Windows 7: go to Control Panel &gt; Appearance and Personalization &gt; Folder Options &gt; general &gt; and make sure that &#8220;Show hidden files&#8221; is checked\n<ul>\n<li>from the Start-&gt;Computer go to C:\\Users\\(username)\\AppData<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/AppData\">?<\/a>\\Roaming\\Apple Computer\\MobileSync<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/w\/edit\/MobileSync\">?<\/a>\\Backup\\<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Now take a look at the directories that match the date\/time stamp and zip up the ones that match (you might want to sort by the date\/time by clicking on the &#8220;date&#8221; column). Zip a directory by right-clicking the directory and go to -&gt; Send To-&gt; Compressed (Zipped) Folder<\/li>\n<li>Now email me the zip file <a href=\"mailto:toopriddy@gmail.com\">toopriddy@gmail.com<\/a> and let me know what you are wanting and tell me the name of your iPhone\/iPod<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><a name=\"For_iTunes_&lt;_8.2,_this_mostly_does_not_work_anymore\"><\/a>For iTunes &lt; 8.2, this mostly does not work anymore<\/h2>\n<p>This is in construction and I am verifying its accuracy<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>make sure that you have installed Safari from apple (see if you have a C:\\Program Files\\Safari directory)<\/li>\n<li>download\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mobilesync-inspect.googlecode.com\/files\/mobilesync-inspect-Windows-r10.zip\" rel=\"nofollow\">http:\/\/mobilesync-inspect.googlecode.com\/files\/mobilesync-inspect-Windows-r10.zip<\/a><\/li>\n<li>extract and copy the mobilesync-inspect-Windows-<a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mytime\/source\/detail?r=10\">r10<\/a>\/mobilesync-inspect.exe file to the C:\\Program Files\\Safari directory<\/li>\n<li>Go to the Start Menu-&gt;Run and type in &#8220;cmd&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>in the black command window type in &#8220;cd c:\\Program Files\\Safari&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>now type in &#8220;mobilesync-inspect list Documents\/records.plist&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>you should see several lines listed like: 2008-09-16 22:02:24 &#8211; 8c67ee34fdc4fc7a6f66e72d5f15f47d6d704976\/00064d7fd97c54526a137a703724c8d603f3bb70.mdbackup : Documents\/records.plist (557)<\/li>\n<li>You are interested in the latest dated version of the output (see the date at the beginning of the output).
